[ his ears are, like, actually showing the inside of them at the moment because they're flopped back and look perked like a dorky german shepherd puppy. his eyes flick from the sky to see who's joining him, but then he just looks back up when he notices it's jolyne.
welcome company. ]
Yeah, I bet. Even just two nights and a whole day wasn't great. [ a little huff ] Like this, though, it's kind of easier to pretend I'm just in Lungmen and not Oceanside for five minutes.
[ sometimes, dissociating is okay if it's to lower your blood pressure. his ears though... cute... jolyne just kind of lets her eyes trail up to them because she has never met a real life furry before. sometimes you have eyes and you gotta look!
not touch. just look.
don't. touch.
don't.... she's maybe reaching a finger to poke one ear along the edge. shit. ]
Nah, it's okay! The time passed earlier when I saw somebody running by without any Terran traits, and the world is kind of, like, more stationary? Than it would be at Lungmen. The city moves on a giant vehicle because it's a nomadic one.
[ it's like a massive fucking tank, basically.
his ear twitches like animal ears do when you touch them, and he looks out of the corner of his eye, kind of amused. ]
You already fixed my hair and fur in the jail, you can touch them if you want, Jolyne.
[ she is ignoring that last bit and just kind of... pets them gently  and maybe gives him a gentle scritch while she's there. ]
That's right—you mentioned something about it being Nomadic. So... your city moves? That's insane. I think that's like the stuff of dreams back home, a moving city.
[ they are velvet soft! he relaxes further with the scritch, eyes closing placidly as he listens. ]
Kind of like a tank..? It's a lot of interwoven stuff, really - they're powered by Originium, which forms after a Catastrophe happens on Terra. But the Catastrophes are why there are nomadic cities. It means that they can evacuate everyone all at once before a natural disaster takes them out, and no one is trampled in a panic.
I talked to Ponta, and apparently Earth doesn't have them happen nearly as often as Terra does.
Mmhm. Volcanos. Tornadoes. The whole gamut - whatever natural disaster you can think of, Terra gets slammed by them. We've lost whole cities to Catastrophes, and we've even had some nomadic ones taken out because they didn't mobilize fast enough.
Countries like Kazimierz - a, uh, knightly kind of place? I guess? they're sort of feudal capitalistic nation in some ways - don't have that many nomadic cities. Kjerag is a theocratic nation based in the mountains, and they don't really have a need for nomadic cities, so they don't have any at all.
